Glitter Ornaments

Here's the rest of them. Continuing on with my Miss Mustard Seed German glass glitter fixation......I was fascinated by all of the sheet music she uses too.  {Beautiful things} she makes with the combo of glitter and sheet music. Her video tutorial on how to glass glitter was very helpful.
We used the glass glitter and sheet music to make some ornaments similar to the Songbird collection in Pottery Barn.  We are all about the birds around here...eggs..nests...you know.
We first made a medallion ornament. I think this one is my favorite. The pattern for this shape was cut out on Nicole's Cricut. We then cut the pattern out on thin wood and papered with sheet music.  We love to incorporate wood into most of our crafts.  It is so much sturdier.
Nicole thought this shape (found on her Cricut), would make a nice ornament. We also cut the shape out of thin wood and papered. Our glitter stash was getting low by the time we made this ornament (I only bought 4 ounces), so we added a small amount of Martha Stewart's glitter in White Gold.
We glittered unfinished wood snowflake ornaments (bought) from Hobby Lobby and Michael's.  Yeah...snowflakes are way too hard to cut on a scroll saw. Just buy them!
Remember these birds?  We made them for Valentines Day and decorated them with Dr Pepper cans.  These birdies were papered with sheet music wings and a little glitter instead.
Here's the pre-papered shape we cut.  It really wasn't too bad to cut out, just tedious! :)  I figured my... (Candace speaking)....ugly cuts would be glittered anyway!
This shape was really easy to cut on the scroll saw.
For the little musical ornaments, we found this pack at Hobby Lobby.
We sprayed them with spray adhesive and glittered.  Love these!
We used a combination of a bird punch from Martha Stewart and a bird die-cut from K&Company.  We gave the birds a coat of glitter.   EK Success brand (K&Company) was extremely nice to us and sent us a package full of goodies to craft with.  More to come on that! :)
It was our lucky day at the thrift store. The only sheet music to be found was an old book of Opera music.  How great is that?  Perfect for ornaments with such dramatic words.  We had so much fun picking the words, I couldn't help singing along at times. :)
I am somewhat musical and have a stash of music that I play on the piano.  My husband and boys came in the kitchen as I was happily cutting into a piece and their jaws dropped!  All the years I worried about my kids destroying my music...and here I was chopping away!  I have to say, it was difficult to make the first cut.

Next we cut a sheet music circle to size, then we Mod Podged each piece on.  Finishing each side with  glue and glitter.
Another project we made ( totally inspired by Miss Mustard Seed) was the sheet music papered NOEL, turned into a garland.  I really, REALLY, love this!  We used large chipboard letters from Hobby Lobby, and after papering, added glitter to the edges.
The sheet music really goes a long way. We hardly made a dent in the book.
Ahhh, we have been busy!
I can't wait to get these up on the tree! Sick...I know!
I better quit typing and get to work cleaning up the millions of glitter particles in my house!

I love everything you made, with glitter you can't go wrong.
Did you seriously cut out that snowflake? You are great with a scroll saw if you did.

I love your glitter ornaments, but man, what a mess! I don't use glitter often because for days it seems to travel with you wherever you go and there is constant cleanup. Might give a few of these a try though, one day... :/ Have a great rest of the week.
